Retail presentation and parcel protection are separate packaging requirements. A box that looks good on a shelf may still need an outer shipping system. Define the intended sales and delivery route before choosing the construction.
Retail presentation
Plan the opening sequence, component layout, printed inserts and information visible to the buyer. Check that the tiles and accessories can be removed and returned without damage. Review the sample with the actual component dimensions rather than designing around a nominal set size.
Parcel protection
Specify the packed set, internal restraints, cushioning and outer carton as one system. Consider movement, contact between hard parts and the handling route. Select any transport test with the packaging provider for the relevant distribution conditions; do not claim universal protection from a material name.
Approval record
Keep the packing diagram, component quantities, carton dimensions and photographs with the approved sample. Agree how substitutions are approved and how packing errors are checked. ISTA procedures are a starting point for selecting an appropriate test, not evidence that this product has passed one.
